Mike G holy crap!! Get a very Hendrix style vibe on the vocal frosting over this bluesy/stoner rock riff cake. Only thing I can find wrong is there doesn't seem to be another album here. Favorite track: Blindfolded.

about

A tribute to all dead rock & roll heroes!

The heavy bluesrock of the late sixties and seventies still is a fertile breeding ground for contemporary bands. Especially in Scandinavia bands seem to thrive on a diet of electrically amplified blues chords.

The latest shoot is called Lonely Kamel and consists of four guys from Oslo who all love Blue Cheer, Cream, Hendrix and other artefacts from the early days of hard rock. What's new, you may say, there are maybe hundreds of bands like Lonely Kamel.

Still, there is something making their take on the blues sound fresh and different. It must be the groove, some may even call it soul, that lets you enjoy the cliché ridden songs. Think of Clutch playing the blues and you will know what I mean.
Lonely Kamel's second album is called "Blues For The Dead", but do not let the title lead you astray. It is a very lively record, full of variation.

On one hand there is pure blues, like the eight minutes long "Stick With Your Plan" and on the other hand fresh, yet old-fashioned boogie in "Green-Eyed Woman" and "A Million Years From Home". This is not traditional delta-blues, but the Jimmy Page version of it.
In the second part of the album we get some vintage keyboards, some psychedelic ear candy and a strange swampy lovesong(?) called "The Boys". A little bit of originality really never fails...

But then again, originality is no goal in itself. What matters is if the Music moves you. Lonely Kamel definitely gets the benefit of the doubt!
